By some strange coincidence, many foes in popular media do not have hair on their heads. Maybe it just fell off. Possibly they decided to shave. Perhaps they have a hair-growing deficiency. For whatever reason, these adversaries do not need hair to leave their foils in a tangled mess. Here are some foes from popular media that boast a menacing dome.
6 Nero Needs No Introduction
“Hi Christopher, I’m Nero,” says this Romulan to Captain Pike of the Enterprise in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie. In another timeline that branches off from that of the main lore, Nero finds himself sucked into a wormhole that destroyed his home planet of Romulus, and destroys the ship captained by the father of future captain, James T. Kirk.
Nero and his crew shave their heads and tattoo them enough to make Mike Tyson proud. This decision came about as a result of the destruction of Nero’s home world of Romulus, believing the federation to be responsible, even though Spock in his timeline tried to save it. Nero spends much of the movie seeking revenge against the Vulcan.
5 Vader’s Helmet Hides A Pale Head
Darth Vader of the Star Wars franchise is one of the most iconic and powerful villains in science fiction history. The black bodysuit and helmet create an aura of mystique. His heavy breathing is chilling, and his deep voice is cold, with the slightest hint of malice seeping through.
Vader lost his hair from the injuries he sustained on Mustafar, in his fateful battle with his former mentor and brother, Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith. When Anakin attempts one final strike at Obi-Wan, who has the high ground, he has his legs chopped off and rolls to the shore of a lava river, which sets him on fire as Obi-Wan leaves him to die.
4 Plankton Don’t Grow Hair
Plankton is SpongeBob SquarePants’ main antagonist and owner of the Krusty Krab’s non-competitor, The Chum Bucket. His life’s ambition is to obtain the Krabby Patty formula and run his former friend and longtime rival, Mr. Krabs, out of business.
According to the SpongeBob Wiki, Plankton is a planktonic copepod, meaning he has “oar-feet” and floats along the surface of the ocean waters. His species tend to not grow hair. Instead, he boasts a set of antennae on top of his head, which contribute to his fluctuating height throughout the series.
3 Wait, Lex Luthor Had Red Hair?
Superman has faced many rogues over his adventures, but the one enemy that may be most associated with the Man of Steel would be the man of money, Lex Luthor. Superman has long been a thorn in his side, as he would disrupt Luthor’s many less than ethical business ventures.

Several explanations for his baldness have appeared over the course of Superman’s history. One such version presented in Action Comics says his baldness resulted from a lab accident that Superman himself caused. The original reason Luthor lost his hair was the result of an error from an artist who got then-ginger Luthor mixed up with one of his henchmen.
2 Asajj Ventress Willingly Shaved Her Head
Ventress is the apprentice of Count Dooku in the Star Wars universe. She crosses sabers numerous times with the Jedi, including Anakin Skywalker. She became one of the more interesting characters in the Star Wars lore, having been betrayed by her master and starting a new life for herself as a bounty hunter. Not only that, but she even helps Obi-Wan take on Darth Maul and his brother Savage.
According to Dave Filoni, her baldness was not a result of her genetics, but rather a deliberate choice. He refers to Ventress having shaved her head as a sign of loyalty to Dooku when discussing the Star Wars novel Dark Disciple by Christie Golden. She would eventually grow her hair out, according to Filoni, due to her distancing herself from her life as a Sith.
1 All Of Doctor Robotnik’s Hair Moves To His Mustache
The blue blur Sonic has gotta go fast, and Dr. Robotnik has to plot world domination. Multiple incarnations of Robotnik have existed throughout the franchise’s video games, comics, cartoons, and movies, but he usually comes in the form of a rotund, long-nosed man whose schemes usually include enslaving woodland critters and benevolent aliens.
In his movie incarnation, Robotnik actually starts out life with a full head of hair. After Sonic defeats him and sends him to the mushroom planet, he starts losing his sanity and shaves his head, as well as grows out his glorious mustache.
