However, while players decide on which agents will suit their style best, there are a few agents that anyone can play without a lot of prior experience in the game. A lot of Xbox Game pass subscribers will be getting into the game and the new chapter soon, so it’s a good time to see which agents can be played and learned quickly.
6 Phoenix
One of the five agents that are already unlocked when a player begins playing Valorant, Phoenix is a duelist. This means he is responsible for charging in quickly and getting plenty of kills, which is one of the easier responsibilities to handle for newer players. Phoenix’s abilities allow him to self-heal and do damage to enemy players, as well as blinding enemies.
The thing most new players will have to deal with and learn quickly to play Phoenix is to turn their blinds correctly so as not to blind their own teammates. Besides that, there are a few responsibilities that a Phoenix has to handle, and learning to blind with self-healing abilities is great for a brand-new player trying to get used to the game.
5 Brimstone
Another one of the five characters already unlocked when you start playing, Brimstone is a controller. A controller usually has smokes to place down to hide their team from the enemy as they head into a site or defend it. Brim also has a stim beacon that charges up his own teammates if they stand near him, and a grenade that can damage enemies.
Brim’s ultimate ability is a rain of fire that will kill enemies caught in it, and it is important for new players to learn how to use this correctly, such as using it to stop enemies from defusing the spike at clutch moments. Besides this, Brim’s smokes are easy to use, and new players will be able to learn maps quickly by looking at his smoke-placing screen. This makes it easy to get to know a lot about Valorant swiftly. Brim is also a character with a fascinating backstory that could be used for Netflix shows like Arcane in the future.
4 KAY/O
Although not one of the first five agents available, players will be able to choose agents to unlock quickly after beginning for a few levels. KAY-O is a robotic agent whose role is an initiator. This means he is responsible for flushing enemies out of hiding spots when the team is charging in on a site. KAY-O has a grenade that will damage enemies, a blind that will stop them in their tracks, and a suppression knife that stops enemies from using their abilities for a short time.
While this agent sounds more responsible for helping the team than others, KAY-O’s abilities don’t have as steep a learning curve as other initiators. So, if this role is the right outlook for a new player, then KAY-O is a good choice to begin learning the role.
3 Sage
After duelist, controller, and initiator, the fourth type of agent in Valorant are Sentinels. Sage is an almost essential part of competitive teams for her healing abilities, due to these being almost unparalleled in how useful they are to a team. However, while Sentinels are generally for locking down areas and being defensively-minded, Sage is best used in staying back behind the main lines and healing teammates.
This makes it easy to view the game and get used to it, while later learning to slow down enemies with slow orbs and defensive walls. Sage’s ultimate ability is to resurrect a teammate, and when this is available it is particularly key to just stay alive. New players may not immediately get a high number of kills with Sage, but they can still be incredibly useful to their team.
2 Omen
Omen is another controller, and is generally cited as the easiest of that class to learn. He has both blinds and smokes to help his team get into areas, and can teleport around the map a lot. This aspect seems difficult to get hold of but isn’t as hard as it seems.
Clever Omen plays are easily thought of, and many new players will feel it is a strong way to get to grips with the smarter side of Valorant plays. Fortunately, besides learning to put down the smokes, once again there isn’t a great deal expected of Omen, and many of his abilities are straightforward to learn. Many professional gamers have commented that Omen is an easy character to get to grips with when they switch over from other games such as CS:GO.
1 Reyna
Finally, comes Reyna, another duelist whose abilities are about self-healing and high fragging. Getting kills and blinding opponents with a type of blind that doesn’t even blind teammates are incredibly useful, and Reyna is considered by many to be an overpowered character that is extremely easy to learn and extremely difficult to play against. Though Riot is constantly changing things to stop agents from being too powerful.
While Reyna is an agent very much in-demand, she is an incredibly useful one to have on any team and is incredibly easy to learn. If any new players are looking for a character to begin learning that can be hugely useful on the competitive scene, Reyna is a perfect choice.
Valorant is available on PC.
